Ism

Ism

A Poem by R.L. Davenport

Lying in the mountains in black secretions
Technological octopus and the hand that feeds them
Devouring their prey, your souls and our fate
You better pray or so they say! That's the system
Where did the smiles on your faces go? cause God I miss them
Where children are left in shark tanks but we got new victims
A play on reality? Go ahead! Buck the ism!
Go against the grain and try to be totally different
But you can't without harnessing the sun that glistens
Another brain blinded, another statistic
A world who truly underestimates the word sadistic
If the problems not in your house then it's not a problem is it?
Masses easily blinded by the drugs and the sex
Other incantations of this worldly flesh
Distractions, sensation, Septembers, and religious koresh
Unfed intelligence system does the rest
Left helpless, torn, dying without self respect
Questioning your existence, questioning your soul and where it goes next
If you should continue or put another knife to your neck
They say it's all about a white picket fence
Everything's about the destruction of your mind
Keeping the common mind useless since the beginning of time
