The legend of Sal Fink (unfinished folk rock song)

The legend of Sal Fink (unfinished folk rock song)

A Poem by Lorna Hutchison

The legend of Sal Fink (Up tempo folk rock)

She rode the Mississippi on an alligator’s back

With her skirt hitched high and a down dirty laugh

All the way to Alabama by the light of the moon

Through the cyclone wind and the deep monsoon

From the buckskin bear to the river pirate chiefs

And a mother so fierce she would petrify the thieves

Little Sal Fink goes a-hollering tunes

Never bet that you can beat her at the hollering blues

Never bet that you can beat her at the hollering blues

From deep in the woods by the pirate’s pyre

She slipped outta ropes and climbed through the fire

With her wildcat pelts and the pirate’s gold

They shoulda left her alone but they wouldn’t be told

From the buckskin bear to the river pirate chiefs

And a mother so fierce she petrified the thieves

Little Sal Fink goes a-hollering tunes

Never bet that you can beat her at the hollering blues

Never bet that you beat her at the hollering blues

Never bet that you beat her at the hollering blues

I REALLY like this. It sounds catchy even without the music! I'm not one to rhyme to save my life and I usually shy away from them (even in songs, although I can excuse rhyming a bit more with music), but you totally pulled it off. I'm really impressed!
