So many said in this short poem,it convey the emotion of a true lover,my whole life and your whole life is a long period but the poet is willing to wait that express true emotional feeling

This poem reminded me of the song by Rascal Flatts, "God Bless The Broken Road" where in it he says "I set out on a narrow way many years ago/ Hoping I would find true love along the broken road/ But I got lost a time or two/ Wiped my brow and kept pushing through/ I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you". Again, it's a short poem with a powerful message. I love it.

The repetition "My whole life/Your whole life" in such as small piece is very powerful. For me it evoked images of loneliness and opportunities forsaken, as does the simplicity of the piece.
