THE STRANGER

it can’t be happening
talking in comparisons
comparing notes
sounds too good
to let it happen.
though
something was
but naught
for reasons
that it could never be .

just a fleeting moment
for hearts to flutter
lasting impressions
to endure for a little awhile
can only hope
for it to go away
never to go to the place
where it could have been.

friendship i will take
the stars say it is so
talk about things
in emergence
artists known and unknown
songs that are harmonious.

through it all
i shall leave it where it belongs
