Lost child

Lost child

When I close my eyes, I see your face,
Your sea blue eyes and child's smile,
So innocent and trusting, torn from the world too soon.

When I close my eyes, I see you running around,
Laughing, playing, the light of my world,
So innocent and trusting, too soon gone.

When I close my eyes, I see your curly hair, so much like your mothers,
Bouncing on your shoulders, coloring your pretty face,
So innocent and trusting, cut too short too soon.

When I close my eyes I know my world will never be the same without you

But somehow, though the world is without you,

I look at the other children, so innocent, so trusting, and decide to hang on.
