Lest we forget

Lest we forget

A Poem by Valkyrie Warrior
"

In honour of Anzac day

"

Lest we forget War, we all regret,

murders of a brother, sister or father

War, mass murder, serial killers out of scared little boys

War, 60 million dead, for what? The good of a handful of people there is no “greater good” about it

War, we all remember, the weeping widow, the motherless children

Blood soaking the ground, blood of boys and girls, too scared to go back

War, please not again, not my children, not my brothers and sisters

Oil, money, land or gold, nothing is worth the death of millions

Whether we can stop it I am not sure, all we can to for sure is be aware

60 million dead

Over 2,000 homes destroyed

Innocents killed, children found in the bomb rubble

So is that the greater good I ask Is that politically correct I ask

It’s where we’ve been, please let’s not make it where we’re going

No, we will never forget

Still Amazing!!!!!

good use of socio political commentary
this is a poem that speaks volumes

at first i thought it might be commemorating the September 11th attacks in NY
but then i saw that the date was later

and that its for a different event

either way
this is well put together

A true and sad poem.

Complete cities were destroyed. No-one will win in war. Both side will pay for 100 years. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

This was written very well, as heartbreaking as it is.

Some critiques: "Weather" should be "whether." Over 2000 homes destroyed - should be 2,000
Innocents killed, children found is bomb rubble - I suggest saying "children found in bomb rubble", rather than "is bomb rubble".

Great work!

You're welcome!
Love it. My sister served in Iraq and my grandfather in Vietnam. Its shocking what it does to people and nothing is ever worth the lives lost on either side. In war there is no winner, only one side gaining a privilege to write in the history books.
