The Girl in the Black JacketA Poem by Lorenzo GiardanoStanding atop a snow covered hill a girl, silent, pale, and still and no expression on her face She did not move, nor did she speak she only stood, small and meek, and fighting through the cold I saw the wind blow from the storm and struck the girl, though she stayed warm for she wore a black jacket The snow was crashing to the ground and with it came the wind's violent sound and yet the girl stayed I thought that maybe I should go and help to shield her from the snow but still, she didn't move She did not shiver, she just stayed still So I got closer to the hill and then I saw her tears She cried while facing bitter frost but why would someone pay this cost? Soon, she will be dead. I ran to her and held her tight but all remaining was my fright for all I held was a black jacket.
