Early Sunday morning I got into a debate with my muse Cate. She wanted me to write a poem about the environment called "Free willy before he chokes to death from a plastic trash bag you threw into the ocean you asshole". But I wanted to write about evil clowns that haunt my nightmares. So like any lving couple we met at the middle. She's so kewl...(she made me say that). Feel free to leave comments or thoughts on this piece and please be kind to each other. Love, peace, chicken grease.

Beautiful imagery. Wonderful words. A sweet tribute to the most picturesque season, if not the most popular.
Well written, poet.

To me autumn is my favorite season because of its colors and scents that reflect nature preparing to rest. The light seems to dim a bit during this time with the wind a little more firm. It inspires and moves many a writer to art. Thank you again.

The geese wing away. And I long to follow them. Winter is close. Time to shelter as Nature turns cruel and cold. Still, beautiful images.
Ah, a compromise haunted by evil clowns holding nightmares as hostages. I got that right, right? --- The poem was great but the computer always wants more than one-word reviews. :)

Hi Carlos, such ardent words painting a canvas of Autumn, my favourite season of all. A delightful song that touches the heart so gently. You paint such a wonderful poetic landscape, such gentle verse to touch the soul so softly. The flow and the rhyme sing into the mind. Your creativity shines once more. Have a wonderful Friday....Mike.

Well done Carlos. This looks suspiciously like a sonnet to me. I've written one so I know how tough they are to write. The changes taking place in autumn are great metaphors for our human condition and you have done great in your poem. You are in great poetic company.
Well done!
All the best,
Alan

You are absolutely correct it almost reads like a sonnet. There is an aged unrequited love to this poem. To be honest it didn't feel like I was writing it myself but merely observing it. This was the same feeling I had when I wrote "Butterfly". Thank you again my friend for your comment.
Autumn has always represented melancholy for me, despite being a favorite time of year! I can feel a bit of a melancholy tone in your poem. A celebration, for sure, but also with the haunting sense of something precious slipping thru our fingers (((HUGS)))

Time never seems so visually finite. It leaves the old bones wishing the end would hurry up, while at the same time feeling there is still so much more to accomplish or leave behind. I guess autumn for me is filled with dichotomy. Thank you Margie for your perceptive thoughts on this poem.
Amazing dance of words my friend. Here in Michigan, Winter is coming. Thank you Carlos for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

If a person can't be inspired by this season and all its muted tones and scents than they really need to learn to live in the moment. Because that very is what autumn teaches. The brevity of life.
I love the colors, verdant green and sage, who become moody and fling to the ground after summer's past, where every blade of grass is counted as its demise is near. The abstraction of color lifts our spirits in Autumn, where we find so many words to fill our poems...we must adore this special Goddess, for she gives us so much to see and hear. Beautiful write Carlos.
Best,
B.

I never feel more alive than during this time. Because in the nature of this moment one can see how fleeting life truly is. In her colors. Thank you again.

Poetry can be akin to weaving dreams. The writer strives to supplant a vision within the reader's mind that resonates in hope it can take root. It's not always a successful endeavor but we do try nonetheless. Because the value of art is in the heart which accepts it. Thank you again for your kind words I truly appreciate it.
