This is such a softly beautiful poem, and I love the word usage here. And a brilliant concept. Not to mention it's an incredibly honest poem and I can feel the passion intensely in each word. This captures life in such a brilliant beautiful way. I love the line, 'Man's pride if folly.' Thank you so much for sharing this piece of wisdom- brilliant!

This is my love letter to womanhood. There is nothing that man could ever create; that women do by nature. I am in awe of their force and innate power. We are born to fall to it. Thank you again.

How devastating our fall when nature finally cedes to the death inflicted upon her by a thoughtless, greedy, human race...and then there were only cockroaches

Yours is a very important statement and actually reflects the power of nature to right our wrongs. It is within her power to destroy us all with natural disasters leaving only cockroaches to exist. Nature will always rule this world in some form or another. Because she is simply that beautiful in her power and incredibly terrifying in her rage. She doesn't need us. It is we who need her. Men are arrogant, selfish, and self destructive. While nature is creative, loving, and an uncompromising force in this world, much like women are. Thank you for reading this poem that is dedicated to both nature and womanhood.
Love this poem. Says it all in a loving way (((HUGS)))

This little senryu is one of my favorites as well. It's written in thought for all the strong women in my life. Many who have had to put up with a lot of bullshit from arrogant men. They are a force of nature unto themselves who through strength of will and determination show they are greater then their counterparts. I am always inspired by them.
I can wholeheartedly agree with the first line. So much of great literature, starting with the earliest known epic poems like Gilgamesh, and then later the Greek dramas like Oedipus, and still later Shakespeare in Macbeth, for example, keep hammering it in that pride always goes before a fall.

Thank you Laz for your thoughts on this poem. I really appreciate it.
This makes me think of the person who can only see himself compared to another who's strength is defined by the need of others.

Hello Carlos. I love a good haiku or senryu and this is a good one.
Brought up with mainly brothers and married to a man who all liked to think along the lines of 'men are superior,so browsing in a store one day I found a poster that said "Is God a WOMAN." and hung it in the kitchen where we all used to gather. There were lots of comments of one syllable that went like this:- Huh!

I am in total agreement with you. I was mostly raised by my grandmother. It is through her undeniable strength and wisdom that I have come to believe if there is a great higher power She is sublime in her perfection. For only women bring life into the world. And only love is innately a female trait, where to men it must be learned. And since we have all been told and taught that love is God...well that just definitively answers everything. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me on this poem.
“Acquiesce to nature's will”
Always wondered how much free will we actually have. Or is it all predeterminedly coded.
Great thoughts

Enjoyed this Carlos and there is I admit a magic to the regular 5-7-5 formats - also a good strong eco-message in the mix - nicely written and 'does what it says on the tin'.

Despite our swift advancements in technology we continue to treat our world like garbage. Caring little for the environment we leave behind for future generations or the animals that are part of this eco system as well. Nature has a way of humbling us all and there is nothing we can build that can stop her. That is why her beauty is to be feared and always respected. We must choose to be better stewards of this planet or we will find ourselves going the way of the dinosaur. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts I truly appreciate it.
If I can say something worth saying that makes just one person think about others...I'll try. The greatest storyteller was my grandmother. I miss her stories. Also, I would like to add to please pay.. more..
