I really love the theme of this poem and feel such a close association in its belief. It was my hope the reader would feel how finite life is but also how infinite the possibilities are within this short existence. Thank you so much again for your thoughts I truly value them.

Truly it is said that we are borne of the sea. Isn't that why we are inexorably drawn to it?

Our fascination for the sea taps into an innately ancient and perhaps primal recognition of where we were born from. I love the ocean and living 8 miles away from it on the west coast has spoiled me. But nothing brings me closer to freedom and this sense of liberation then sitting on the sand looking out to sea. I'm drawn to her infinity. It truly feels like I am home. Thank you my friend for your comment.

The last two lines make the poem. Each of us is a microcosm of the macrocosm.

Adore this piece, we really forget how short life is and it's so easy to get so caught up with yesterday's problems. An important message, makes me want to go out and live today to its fullest!
Thank you for such an inspiring piece

we human do have a very short life span when compared to our world, our universe, and the cosmos.... and yet we have evolved consciousness and can not only contemplate our past, but can dream and make real our future.... so yes, seize the day, seize the hour, live life loudly with every breath.... be one of the waves in that ocean of time....
nicely written Carlos....

When we are born we are afforded a limited amount of time on this sublime blue orb. I remember at 8 yrs old having a new friend in school named stevie. And right before summer we wished each other well and said we will see each other soon once summer vacation ended. He was struck by a car and killed a month later. Life is finite, but love and friendship is forever. I still remember my young friend and I'm in my mid 50s. Live for this day because there is no promise of tomorrow. Be the ocean, be endless, even in brevity. Because even within ephemeral moments there is infinite possibilities. Thank you so much for your kind thoughts.
Your have a way of spinning words that’s quite hypnotic. Great write as usual.

In all honesty I would attribute my style improving piece by piece due to reading the art of others here in the community. There are so many talented and unique voice, yours included, that one can easy learn from in some capacity. That's why I try to encourage people to read the work of others. And let that artist know you enjoy their work. This is a community of writers for a reason. It's an amazing tool at your fingertips which graces us the opportunity to learn from more professional artistic poets and storytellers. A person would be crazy not to take the advantages this community offers to learn from it. This is literally a school for writers and I'm talking a highly rated one. It's like the great writers of the past sitting at a dive in Paris mesmerizing one another with their art except we are a world of writers sharing our profound love of writing and weaving friendships in the process. You not only have the opportunity to read great writing but also communicate directly with the artist. That's an amazing thing to have access to. And I'm so appreciative of this fact. I literally feel I'm get better with each passing work because of everyone here. So thank you JP for the kind comments you give as well as the wonderful art you submit because it along with all the others makes me a better writer.
what a great ending to this poem. I feel this poem....my days are numbered and the days seem to go by so quickly...reminds me of being a kid and days that seemed to last forever...
well done, Carlos.

When reading this words back they conjured the same thoughts in me as well. The summer days swimming in a river with my friends until the sun faded to orange and running home to avoid punishment for being out late. I wish I would have held onto those moments a little longer then I did. They truly were ephemeral, as youth always is. Thank you again my friend.
Days have felt awfully short, and not only because summer is drawing to an end, everything just feels too fast, there's hardly time to relax it feels. I love the feeling and the way you captured it in this piece, and I particularly liked the sort of thing you taught with it, gotta make the most of it while we have it!
'We breathe for but an instant; as time winds its way down, how many more will we take before its final sound?' I loved this bit and the hard-hitting questions throughout it. Thank you for sharing, have a wonderful day, and stay safe!

It was important for me to hold true to the idea of the fleeting aspects of life and its association to brevity. How the sea represented the infinite and immortal aspects of our universe contrasted against our lives. Though a singular second can attain an eternity of love. We should aspire to live like the sea, and the boundless possibilities which define it. To make our last breath last forever in memory.
