BIKES

BIKES

A Story by Lorraine Ciro
"

A husband tries to persuade his wife to buy bikes

"
BIKES
My husband: " Let’s buy bikes.”
Me: “ NO”
The next day we are in a bike shop looking at bikes.
“I don’t want a bike. Buy one for yourself.”
“Yes you do. We could ride together.”
"NO"
A nice young man brings me a bike to look at.
“Try it. I’ll help you get on.”
I held onto the handlebars, he held onto me, I knew he was laughing.
I can’t walk up steps, how am I going to get on a bike?
Finally, after ten minutes of trying to lift my leg over the center I gave up.
I’m standing there, sweating like a pig, hating the bike, the bike shop and my husband.
He bought a bike, took it home, rode it around the block twice.
It’s been sitting in the shed for twelve years.

This story reminds me of a few things which i bought on impulse and have never seen the day of light ever again.

Thanks for stirring up some forgotten memories.

Mark.
