Chapter 11A Chapter by Lorena RoseEva stayed awake until almost midnight and there was still no sign of Seth. Darren was on lookout and hadn't been back yet. Nora fell asleep hours ago and Eva was curled up around her like a mama bear protecting her cub. Nora didn't seem to mind though. I tried to keep myself awake as I sat in the tent opening watching the fires go out at each tent one after another. I rubbed my hands together and zipped up Darren's coat to hold in the warmth. I hadn't had any visions yet so I wasn't sure how to tell when Seth would get caught. I got up finally to go make a fire because it just kept getting colder. I was heading down a row of tents to go find more firewood when I got a flash. “Ouch,” I said bending over then I felt something hit my side. “Grab her,” I knew that voice. I whipped around and kicked down one of the four other kidnappers that were already trying to surround me. I kicked the one girl into a bed of hot coals and threw another into Seth. “Maya Garnet, you have to hand yourself in,” Seth got up, “Before we have to resort to violence.” “Sorry Seth,” I punched him hard in the face and he was knocked out, “I promised Eva.” “Wait,” hands touched my back and suddenly I couldn't move. I couldn't speak either. “So the pregnant afflicted girl is having Peck's child,” a voice whispered, “What a s**t.” I tried to struggle against his grip, but with his hands still on me moving around my body, I couldn't fight against it because I wasn't sure what it was. “You, on the other hand are stunning,” he turned me around, “Such a pretty face.” “I could take you all for myself,” he ran his hand down my cheek and I felt dirty. “They say you're so unobtainable because of that idiot Price,” he ran his hand down my chest, “So young, fragile and just waiting for someone to have you.” I had to move. I tried to get control of one part, any part of my body to use as a weapon. “Keith, don't tease the girl,” the girl I threw onto the coals got up, “Peck is unconscious so he can't tell Morrison.” “You want to join us, Davinia,” he asked. “Can I have a turn at her?” she said then squeezed my arm and I got a violent slash of pain that passed through my entire body. I collapsed to the ground and they both laughed. “You were right she's tired now so she'll be easy to move,” Davinia shocked me again, “You'll behave, won't you Miss. Garnet?” “No,” I growled. “What did you say?” she wrapped arms around my waist and I just about blacked out from the pain. I screamed and then those other hands wrapped around me. I couldn't make a sound all I could do was sit there. “Price hasn't even played with you yet,” Keith lifted me up and I glared at him because it was the only thing I could do. “We should bring him back too and re-educate him,” Davinia looked at me, “How can she be so powerful she looks like a child?” “Well you of all people know a lot of power can be packed into a small figure,” Keith kissed my forehead and I wanted to hurt him. No, I wanted to cause him enough pain that he would never touch me again. “His gift is paralysis, sweetheart you cannot fight that like the death serum or the controller serum,” Davinia kissed Keith's cheek, “Just like you can't fight pain like I gave you.” “Hey,” a familiar voice shouted then suddenly Keith was on fire. He yelped and dropped me. Davinia grabbed my arm right away so I couldn't escape. “Is that Seth's baby mama?” Davinia hissed as Eva came over followed by Nora who had a gun. “Let her go of her,” Nora snarled. “Little Nora, is that you?” Davinia let go of me and got up, “I would have thought you'd be with big brother.” “What are you here for Davinia?” Nora kept her gun pointed at her. “I'll show you,” she went after Eva. I got up, ran then jumped on her back surprising both her and me. “Get off me, Garnet,” she set shocks into me, but I kept holding on. “Eva, run,” I shouted at her. “I am not leaving you alone,” she set Davinia's arm on fire and I got singed again, “Oops sorry.” “Get to Seth,” I ordered then Keith was released from the flames. He came at me and tried to pull me off Davinia. I jumped off her and threw her into her boyfriend. “There, you two belong together,” I took the gun from Nora, “Stay down if you know what is good for you.” “Darren,” Nora shouted. “Seth's okay,” Eva was bent over him then one of the soldiers grabbed her. “Nora,” I snapped, “Stop yelling.” “Adams said you were tough,” Keith walked towards me with Davinia trying to circle around me. “That isn't Seth,” I replied, “Why aren't you and your girlfriend like Seth?” “We volunteered to switch sides, we've more than proved our loyalty,” Davinia laughed, “The military are much more fun than you do-gooders anyways.” “Adams said Price was a jealous type,” I turned and Keith grabbed my face, “I wonder what he'll think of this.” His lips came down towards mine and then there was a shot and Keith cried out before wrenching back. “Get your hands off her,” Darren put the gun to his head. “Darren, don't kill him he's an idiot, but they can be questioned,” I heard Davinia coming up behind me. I grabbed Darren's gun smashed the butt of it into the side of Davinia's head. “Davinia,” Keith said then Darren knocked him down. “I always knew there was something with you and Davinia,” Darren stood over him, “I never could understand why girls always kissed you and why she could lord over the men.” “We ruled the military academy, Price the three of us,” Keith laughed, “You, me and Davinia got more action because you were the looks, I had the skills and Davinia knew payback well.” “You knew each other at school,” I asked looking at Darren. “We were best friends, us and Kelley,” Keith informed me then Darren punched him out. “You have awfully taste in friends,” I told him. “Are you okay?” he put his hands on my arms and they were warm. “Dare,” I wrapped my arms around his neck and he pulled me in close to him, “I was so scared I couldn't move, I couldn't speak and then the pain was horrible.” “You're shaking like a leaf,” he swept me off my feet, “Those idiots knew to sneak in the middle of the night, I should have stayed with you girls.” “Eva,” I looked over and she was touching the blood seeping out of Seth's nose. “Did you have to punch him?” she looked over at me. “I couldn't let him manipulate me, Eve besides we have him now and you can nurse him once we have him in restraints,” I promised then looked at Nora who was standing over one unconscious body. “Where is the other one?” I asked. “He ran and I didn't have my gun,” she said guiltily, “I'm sorry.” “He can't get far,” Darren took me back to the tent. “I'm exhausted,” I groaned. “Do you want me to bring Seth to the tent and tie him up in the corner?” he asked, “That way we can keep an eye on Eva.” “Thank you,” my eyes shut, “Make sure Keith and Davinia are under guard and chained to something sturdy.” “Go to sleep,” he kissed my forehead then got up. I laid there for awhile, but I didn't fall asleep until I felt Darren's arms around me again. I woke up to the sound of arguing. “Release me from these restraints or feel Dr. Morrison's rage,” Seth ordered and my eyes opened. “I said shut up, Maya is sleeping,” Darren retorted, “Your girlfriend is trying to sleep too and in case you didn't notice she is pregnant with your baby.” “Darren,” Eva said and I grabbed her before she could reach Darren. “He needs to know, Eve,” I dragged her back over to the bed, “Good morning, Adams.” “It's Seth Peck,” Seth seemed to calm down when he looked at me and Eva, “You two belong to Morrison.” “No one belongs to Morrison,” I got up, “Not even you, Seth.” “I do work for Morrison, I only will work for him,” Seth said in a monotone voice. I heard Eva squeak and I saw that Seth had zeroed in on her. He must be trying to talk to her in her head. “When did you develop this ability to speak in people's minds,” I demanded. “After my procedure, I started to be able to,” he tried to get up. “Leave Eva alone,” I grabbed her arm when she lurched forward. “Eva, let me go for your child's sake,” Seth said out loud and she looked so uncertain. “Our child,” she said quietly. “Dr. Morrison will take him and we can start the procedures from his infancy like myself,” Seth insisted, “The boy will be a weapon and a blessing to the cause.” “A weapon,” Eva snapped out of it, “Our baby is not a weapon and I won't let anyone run experiments on it.” “You won't have a choice,” Seth answered and Darren shared a look with me, “I will, of course keep you company and have more children to add to the research.” “Can I hit him now?” Darren hissed. “Price, you know you have a lot of admirers in our cause, “Seth looked at him, “Girls from your wild school days.” “It won't work on me, Adams,” he replied, “I am a brick wall, which you should already know.” “Very well,” he turned on me. “Seth, do not even try it,” I warned then I felt his voice in my head. “Price only wants what you haven't given yet,” Seth's voice whispered, “Eva is having my baby, but you are still pure and if you want to stay that way get away from Darren Price.” “Stop,” I ordered. “When you kissed me, you were trying to get away,” he thought, “You should go back to where you belong, you know you'll only cause trouble here.” “Enough,” I shoved him back into the bar, “I am not going back ever and neither are you, Seth because no one should be in that hell hole, but Morrison because he dug it himself.” “Maya,” Eva got up, “Please don't hurt him, he doesn't know what he's saying it's the controller serum.” “Eva, can you go get Nora? She seems to find his mind babble funny for some reason,” Darren came to my side, “Do you want to go outside get some air?” “Those two girls stay here,” Seth struggled, “You cannot hide them, Price.” “I'm here,” Nora came in with Sara and Caroline. Eli followed them into the tent and I noticed all of the kids besides Nora had headphones in and music blaring. “Come on,” Darren took me outside and I watched him pace back and forth. “Is there something you need to tell me you lunatic?” I laughed. “Davinia and Keith were my closest friends in school, Maya,” he turned to me, “They are the most dangerous people in this camp and I know this because I've seen what they can do to people.” “What do you want me to do?” I inquired. “I want you to stay away from them,” he said then looked down at my shoes, “I also want you to hang out with Kelley, distract her and her friends.” “Excuse me,” I said and he gave me a guilty smile. © 2015 Lorena RoseAuthor's Note
