Desire For A Rave

Desire For A Rave

A Poem by John G. Forrester Jr.
"

When you fall in love with a girl name Rave.

"
connection’s start with a voice
a hum, a melody, a face so angelic
skin so tasty that i smile with indulgence
a touch so excited you have to reach for
your hand grasp mine while we walk on the Upper East Side
beauty blankets your body in an obvious way
for love is in my heart with the love in your heart

together we can never be stopped
because the flowers smell a little sweeter
and the sky feels a little bigger
while the world seems smaller
join me in the valley of trees and weeds
gone for a moment back like I left
and to hear your heart beat sounds of affection

chained by ink and laughter
fondness grows and love blooms
while we look at tombs of dead kings
jewelry of queens that number our gaze
look upon me as i look upon you
call for me in that way you say
a partner yet not yet a lover

wait for the right time to show our love
i too am shy and nervous for our souls to interact
a body that makes me want and makes me long with desire
we meet on Manhattan streets our go too
and as we drink and eat together we draw a face for each other
just like Basquiat did a man
the museum brought us across the world

i was lonely and afraid to be myself
under a microscope i was a speck
now I’m a bolder with roots deep into the concrete
kind heart always but now i show a little more
bright smile always but now i smile more
never had breaks but now i have the light
and now i have a partner to go with to Rave
