I Remember My Angel

I Remember My Angel

A Poem by Evan Spoonhunter
"

This is a poem I wrote for a friend. He passed away five years ago this past summer and while to think of him still hurts, I will never forget how his smiles brightened my day. We miss you, Matthew.

"

 I remember your crooked grin,
How you would only smile it for me.
It always came with a sweet chuckle,
The gentle indent in your right cheek.

I remember your heavy mint scent,
Like you had rolled around in a garden.
Even if you looked like a mess,
You always smelled so nice and so clean.

I remember your warm eyes,
Filled with that childish innocence I loved.
They were blue just like the skies,
Somehow they even retained the brightness of the sun.

I remember you the day you left,
You, the broken angel who carried my heart.
Even though you were full aware it was over,
You didn't once tell me of the sorrow to come...

Just so I could remember you forever as the light of my life.

I know it doesn't rhyme, and trust me I wasn't aiming for that. Just enjoy, please.
