Aunt Denise

Aunt Denise

A Poem by Brian
"

I've been thinking about her a lot lately.

"
A simple visit to move her chair,
The apartment is a mess.
First she trys to move it herself,
But she quickly runs out of breath.

My father's only sister,
Lives in the neighborhood adjacent.
Ashamed at where her life has gone,
She can barely face it.

Taking pills from a plastic bag
An attempt to relieve the stress
A lethal dose of a homemade remedy
Choking her to death

The last words I would hear her speak
"I love you" as she kissed my cheek

Now its with a heavy heart
I said "whatever..." in response

Awwww, this actually brought tears to my eyes, it was such an emotional write. You captured the emotion spot on. I couldn't imagine losing anyone like that, it must be really hard. I got an hour long talk from two guys in school last month telling me how it ruined them....

Sorry for you loss hun, this one really touched me.
