Tormented One

Tormented One

A Poem by lonesome_loser

What is it like to be loved?
I truly don't know.
How does it make you feel inside?
Or does it really even show?

I wonder what it's like,
When you find the right one.
Will my heart know that this is it?
Or will my emotions be numb?

I can't let you inside,
And I can't let you see.
Because you will surly run,
From the evil locked up in me.

My mind so tormented by death,
And my thoughts of suicide.
I try to run from them,
But I can never hide.

I am forever sick and twisted
And have cried out loud for help
No one has heard my screams
No one has heard me yell

So I function daily
And I keel my silence
But deep inside of me
Raging on is imminent violence

There are certain parts of me that relate to certain parts of this. It makes me think of all the times I was told to just be myself when I was young and lonely, not that I'm any less lonely now. What if being yourself involves so much negativity between the ears, even when you want to change it but are powerless to stop it. This one certainly had the wheels of my mind spinning. Nicely done.

Executed perfectly. As far as love, well, I'm not sure anyone knows how to love completely anymore. To me love would be someone who will love you unconditionally and not turn away from your inner demons, but will help you fight them. Anymore you get into a fight with your lover and its done. Guess we will all bring to light what it means to us by the way we love, but I don't think we could ever receive it the way we want it, but I could be wrong. xo Winter

What is it like to be loved ? Lonesome, you are asking perhaps one of the most difficult questions of the aeon. Some people claim to know exactly what it's like to be in love, but it's not - it's lust or a co-dependent relationship of some kind.

Others say they don't know what love is - but in truth, they do. They really do. They ARE in love, this very instant, it's just that there is a communication gap between them and their lover and that can definitely fray things on the edge.

So for you to ask what is it like to be loved ? Imagine a warm sunrise on your face, the gentle splash of a cool waterfall against the nape of your neck, or even just watching a butterfly flit seemingly randomly from one flower to the next.

Love is PEACE. Love is kind. It always is. It is the tranquility deep within your heart. Sometimes we can't hear our own inner voice because we have too many other concerns in this world. But if you are quiet, especially so - you may hear your voice say, "I know what it is like to be loved - because I AM."

And in fact you are, by your family, by your friends and acquaintances. You need only take the time to ACCEPT their love and in this - return it. Love is the only gift you can give that you receive at the same time.

I hope that writing this has been cathartic - this is a piece that needed to be written, and you expressed your anguish clearly. Tortured, but a solidly written piece. Keep writing!

I have an old friend who tells me she believes the best artists are those who are tormented. I often concur - while its no comfort - here at the cafe - you aren't alone. many of us exorcise our personal demons on the bandwidth. Pull up a chair. This is a solid write.

Very truthful poem. The brain is difficult at times to control.
