just a little faster

just a little faster

A Poem by Alicia

a symphony of anxiety
swelling and straining
waxing and waning
tugging at the tendrils of brain tissue
like a needy child

pushing the heartbeat
like the whistle of a marathon coach

carefully and precariously constructed
waiting for you to fall apart
