Memories

Memories

A Poem by Vic

You know
they always told me
memories fade

I always believed them
I trusted their knowledge
I felt as though this hurt would leave
leave with the memories

But memories stick
stick like glue
and you can't peel them off

Memories are not like band aids
they don't come off quickly
they come off slowly
and painfully

I'll never allow myself
to fill one with unpleasant
haunting
memories

I know the feeling
of suffering
suffocating
drowning
in torture

That's why I don't open up
not to anyone I may be able to lose
or get attached to
why make make more pointless
Memories

I loved how you compared memories to band aids, it is so true. A good read and write!
