What hurts the most

What hurts the most

A Poem by Vic

She sits quietly and waits

She knows he's not coming

She knows it's pointless

But she waits

He listens to the smashing dishes

To the slamming doors

To his mother's cries

He listens

And waits

She sits at the desk

Papers cluttering her space

invading her thoughts

Striking her brain

she sinks low in her chair

And waits.

She sits in the cold stair well

She cries

He took her everything

he took her innocence

her childhood

her perspective

her life

She cries

And waits.

What hurts the most

is sitting

ALONE

without a

FRIEND

praying you weren't

FORGOTTEN

crying because he's

GONE

dying because you're tired of

EVERYTHING

sitting being consumed by the evils of

STRESS

ANGER

DEPRESSION
INSECURITY

SELF ESTEEM ISSUES

You think you're alone

but you're not

I love you

She loves you

He loves you

Why not

LOVE

yourself?

Because it hurts

It hurts to build it up

then have it knocked

DOWN

That's why they

DON'T

build it back

UP

Because it hurts.

WOW. Victoria - a very insightful poem. Its been oh, forever since I was 12 but when I was this was reality for me, and it was only that interaction with a couple of friends I think that got me through it. I know that when my family relocated when I was 14 - I lost those friends and life became incredibly difficult. I remember vividly feeling the way this poem reads - and I would give anything to prevent another soul from going through the struggle this poem conveys. Your words are resonant. They hit me where I lived....

Really very well written. Many things in this world are built up - and knocked down. A particular website I know of for interest. *Grin* No, but seriously it hurts - loneliness really does hurt. I remember it gnawing away at me when I was 15 and 16. I think I had one really good friend then.

And - that was about it. No-one else. Today ? I can count all my real-life friends on one hand - yet - they are good friends whom I trust and respect. And perhaps that makes all the difference between that and those who may have several friends but can't rely on them - really rely on them when they need to.
