Ugly

Ugly

A Poem by Joy

Do you ever just look at a group of people and think to yourself,

Who is going to die first?

What is going on in their funny little minds?

What are these words they are saying,

That seem so familiar,

Yet so strange?

Who is the saddest?

Who is the most broken?

I find myself thinking about and seeing a grim reality.

I see the world in two different ways:

The way it is really happening

And everything going wrong.

I see a car crash that could have happened if they didn’t stopped.

I see a fire exploding around the people I love.

I see monsters around people,

Inside of people,

And people becoming the monster inside.

I see everything happen in both ways,

And morphing into one.

I hear voices,

Asking me to pay,

Or even yelling at me to leave.

My mind is overwhelmed with everything I see.

People say there is beauty in everything,

But what they don’t see is that everyone and everything is ugly.

If you stare at something for too long,

The beauty becomes ugly,

Every flaw exposed.

Every time I see the ugly,

See the monsters,

Hear the voices,

I shake my head,

And everything is gone.

Gone...
