People Are Two Faced

People Are Two Faced

A Poem by Joy

You don’t know what you have,

Until it’s gone.

Once that light is gone,

Darkness takes over.

Your world might not have seemed bright at the time,

But you will notice how dark it is when the light is gone.

The way people act,

And the way people really are,

Are two very different things.

People are two faced,

They walk this earth one way,

But think another way.

Someone may act strong around others,

But secretly hates themselves when they are alone.

They may look happy on the outside,

But are dark and broken on the inside.

These people may act indestructible,

But are only this way because they are already broken,

Shattered into millions of pieces.

The strongest people on the outside

Can be the most broken people on the inside.

When you think you know someone,

You might not even know the half of them.

Two different people walk this earth,

Yet they are compiled in the same body,

Fighting to be the lesser of two evils around other people,

And letting go when they are alone,

Letting everything out to themselves.

Everything is mushed together,

Forced into one mind,

One body,

One soul.

When you walk past someone,

You won't notice if they are broken,

Because the human mind is focused on other things,

Other people,

On themselves.

Our minds don’t have room for everything and everyone,

So we let the strangers slip by,

Not even knowing the pain,

The suffering,

The agony that this person is forced to endure for their entire lives.

Pain holds people back,

Controls them,

Changes them.

Pain kills.
