Reverie

Reverie

A Poem by Lola

in his mind there was a glowing yellow room

running lengthwise across one wall was a window

that was all he noticed for years

he opened his eyes for the first time in months

plaster had grown into his lashes

he was the shell of a man who once was

the room was much brighter than his eyes remembered

each wall shed light on its opposite

in that instance he hoped for rain

there was a crack in the wood paneling of the floor

the man traced it with his eyes

it led him to something new

there was a door

thick and bulky like himself

but he could sense something fragile

set into this wooden monster was simplicity

cast iron bars separated him from the outside world

and the outside world from him

but on that day when he looked at the door

there was something different

there was a girl with blue hair looking through the bars

vines had grown over the cast iron, a shade darker than her hair

they looked as if they were wrapped around her body

molding her into the door

their eyes met for the first time

an electrical current shook through them and their environment

the window shattered

thoughts travelled through each mind

each feeling the same exact thing

the same desire for each other

he had climbed out the window

now standing in front of her

radiating of each other

memories played through

maybe not memories maybe something else

but they felt real"they were happening

soft hands across rough cheeks

a tickle across stark white necks

a light grey sweater thrown on the ground

pain covered each of them

it was rare in that few moments but there

pushing each other into the spotlight

neither knew what prompted them to do it

but an overwhelming ray was shining down between them

they each just wanted to love the other

the love began to outshine the hurt

he reached out and traced her jaw line

eyelashes began to flutter

their eyes locked

his words were sucked into the pockets of air in her lungs

she painted portraits on his chest

they each longed to be in the others pocket of air

to shield each other from the fire

to be equals

for now they stood inches apart with eyes locked

Now there's a dream worth dreaming.

This is pretty incredible. You have amazing imagery and description, but I'm a little lost when it comes to the overall meaning of the poem.
