I'm sure the background highlight serves a purpose.

The last line makes the poem feel circular, perpetual, like the narrator (maybe because of intoxication) recognizes the cosmic connection. Very hip and contemporary.

Made me smile at the end. "The plastic creating people"...one of the stronger lines I read today...so much depth in short lines. I assumed you were talking about water....how it recycles itself. I daresay this may have been out of my range of interpretation. I did enjoy it though...even if i had trouble finding the deeper meaning.
