Courageous Love

Courageous Love

A Poem by llee
"

Cut the cord, feel the humanity,...

"
Courageous Love
The over-arching dream
The moments constant call
Fear is the evil
That binds the herd
Courage is the sharp instrument of freedom
Cuts the cord, releases our true humanity,
Saves us from the fall.
When will we choose life
Let go the dogma
Of financial gain,
Of possessions desire
Move freely into self,
A single division of twain
A place of living much higher.
In that causeway
That channel of purity
We learn to care again
We really feel empathy
And love,
remember love
precious, unadulterated
No ambiguity.
To touch another's heart
Help them heal a wound
Fill their bellies
Make them laugh
For no better reason
Than to feel the flow
The ripple of warmth internal
That only
Giving makes
No matter the season.
Today I will live in
Courage, humility and love
and without fear, touch humanity
And let that freedom
be the change in me,...
Courageous love

Nice work! I like the Emersonian theme, though a more gentle call for "self reliance." Of course, "fear is the evil" that binds us, but also protects us---though shackled to others and thus mediocrity. The last three lines hit the mark (especially "freedom" and "courage"). I look forward to reading more of your work.
