AssaultedA Poem by lleeModern life rapes me.Assaulted
In this day of catch phrases Inordinate slang that moves past Like the pedestrian mind on the jagged highways of cities. Pressures to have more Got to get more Be first, be a winner At the end of the day. We tug and pull We cut each others paths To declare ourselves on top of the heap. Proclamations lost as we have no ears to hear. The city streets moan The subways are quite explosions Underneath we bewail and project The respite life of enlightenment and technology. A thousand times a minute I am assailed And my mind grows numb Scenes, terms, background music Opinions, emotional tugs, never ending. As my mind grows stronger More synapse are connected Yet I am more lost than ever, simply overwhelmed Like a giant child then, I throw my tantrums. © 2017 llee |
