Fire on Cool WatersA Poem by lleeCareful not to let go too quick the love you haveFire on Cool Waters Not-withstanding,
myself for the
love of myself, there
would be you and no one
else. However, I
do love myself and must
prove myself to end the
world of you and move
forward not regress.
We built a
beautiful ship she was
well built and hewed from trust
and communication a sight to
behold, something to bemuse.
Mid sea we
set her alight fire on
cool waters burned the sky and out of
fright you jumped
in the sea and watched her die.
You swam
after her I toiled
to stop the flow stop from
sinking, to deter myself and
focus on not sinking below.
I have her
steady now but she
still has a list you are
still swimming around her somehow circling,
treading water and shaking your fist.
I know she
will never sail the same it takes
two to right this ship it's my
greatest pity, my greatest shame but I
cannot go it alone I am losing my grip.
Over the
edge I go into new
waters to swim to
shore is my focus now, my heart
patter’s.
The
callouses of my hands born of
years work and repair on a ship
destined to beach on the sands will
always bear my days and nights of despair.
The ship
of love we built is without a captain it's mate
long gone it is lost
to the sea, someday it may be sailed again but for now it floats unattended, cared for by no one, especially not me. © 2017 llee |
