Cape MayA Poem by lleeMoment in time on the Jersey ShoreCape May Look
down the beach line take
it all in, the
waves rolling foamy
mouths, dying
to end their long journey committed
to their final death spiral flattening
themselves prostrate
to their shore God inching
and uncoiling up the beach till
another brother comes in.
The
sun setting over the horizon fatal
orange glow dark
purple hues that stretch horizon
to horizon you
looked up slowly darker
hues blend give
way to light yellow.
Kids,
parents, gone for the day back
in their hotel rooms ready
for early night time events boardwalk
jockeys playing
games they will never win funnel
cakes and stomach aches.
Ardent
romantic couples Slow,
steady pace, looking
into each other’s eyes, holding
hands bursts
of giggling and chasing.
Walking
along tree lines up
and over the berm 20
feet higher than the beach smell
of surf, fish and Pine vibrantly
alive.
Taking
in the moments remembrance
and savor considering
nothing, living everything. © 2014 llee |
