"Avarice of Adam"

"Avarice of Adam"

A Poem by L.C. Jarrette
"

There is a sufficiency in the world for a man's need but not for a man's greed. - Gandhi

"
We mere mortals,
Are but temporal beings.
Drowned by the wine of luxuries
That life has to offer.
That being said, still suffices not
(Countless, numerous sins ongoing
Creating, still dreaming
Of robots never-ending)
The forgotten warmth near the fireplace
And those which are eternal
Just to be swept away
By the broomsticks of the witch,
Just to be blinded by the lust of ambition.

L.C. Jarrette,
"Avarice of Adam"
We mere mortals..temporal beings" leads into a piece which pleas with the mind to re-think or to re-examine life. Life is such a gift but is it treasured as a gift to relay good?
"Warmth near the fireplace." Greatly contrasts with "Just to be blinded by the lust of ambition."
Such a sad state! "drowned by the wine of luxuries."
Other lines which give great meaning within this poem; "And those which are eternal just to be swept away by the broomsticks of the witch, just to be blinded by the lust of ambition."
Yes, life is our opportunity to find the beauty and the work in simple needs of others and help. Your poem cried out of this need.
Great poem.

Kathy
