Chapter 4

Do you want to know the problem with encountering a woman spider?

The fact that she is literally, a gods-damned spider. And not to mention the fact that my own mother, turned her into a spider. 

Without a doubt, she hates Athena and hates me. 

Serves her right, she pretended to better than my mom. Who is a goddess?

You know who Arachne doesn´t hate? And is allied with?

Poseidon. 

This was all I had collected and found myself irritated, and feeling even more foolish. Of course, Percy should have come along. He´s the one that cradles spiders out windows unless they come near me. 

My hands ran through my hair where I sat at the campsite I created, watching the creepy disgusting monsters crawl on the ground toward me. I screamed, rushing away from the fireside, bag in hand. ¨No! No! NO!¨

 

¨Key, you are the key.¨ Whispered the creepy arachnids, more swarming from the trees, and every inch of the ground.  

 

¨What key! What do you want?!!¨ I shouted at the bugs, pulling my bronze dagger from its place at my side. I kept trying to run but found myself frozen in fear. My blood felt like ice, and I let out a fearful laugh. 

They began to crawl up my legs and over my arms, and I heard an ear piercing screech that could only be recognized as myself. Tears fell, and I covered my face, hunching down as they continued their whispers and painful bites.

¨Percy...¨ I sobbed, bites blooming over my arms. I hated the idea that I did need him to rescue me from this. That I was perfectly capable of destroying a Hydra, defeating a stupid cyclops, befriending a cyclops, throwing myself in front of a poisoned blade...

And incapable of fending off some spiders. 

They bit all of my exposed skin, merciless. Tears came and flowed like rivers down my face, and I gripped tightly to my dagger.

My grip became looser, and my eyelids felt heavy, and I swore I could hear Percy calling my name. 

This was how I would die. I knew it.
