Catch My Breath

Catch My Breath

A Poem by Indigo Ribbon

Cold tarnished breath

Hanging in the back of my throat

As I struggle, I catch, I hold

Trying so hard to just fit in

to find a corner, a niche

somewhere I can just let go

to be daring enough

to be myself

My thoughts still race

My lips still unmoved

think of something, anything

But nothing comes

Not a word

Author's Note

Indigo Ribbon
This is a short poem, but I think it fits. i am trying to convey the feeling of anxiety and the feeling of trying to be accepted, but you just can't fit in, Your left speechless, and looking stupid.

I can sense it. It feels like you're nervous, maybe even almost panicked at the fact that you want to fit in but you cant. Kind of like the feeling when you're trying to think of something witty to say to blend in with the people around you, but everything you think of sounds dumb. Nicely done.
