Lily of the Nile

Lily of the Nile

A Poem by lizzzita3
"

The life that leaves you hollow

"

My teeth are rotting slowly

I’ve lost myself again

Bleeding from the gums
They say to look within

Yea, it’s not what goes in
But what comes out that defiles a man
That leaves him bitterly drunk
Not knowing where to begin

I’ve been wasting my years on simple pleasures
Society says that’s the X, just dig, you’ll find the treasure
But I can’t find it
Can’t feel the fortune and satisfaction
In living my life in a grey distraction

Many shades of grey
Can't live this way
Where life's a big orgy of selfish desires
It’s leaving me dry but promised to take me higher

Saying "Live your life with no regrets"
Forged myself to what they would expect

That life's not the lily of the Nile
I'm just returning to the pile-

of dust where I once was formed and in the end I will lie

Because one shouldn't live his life just to comply
