Anxious AngelA Poem by ElizabethThis is my first post! Poetry has always been a practice I've held close to my heart, and this poem was designed as a way to begin drafting a story.Anxious Angel departing, see where her body lies. white sheets in a room too clean, beeping monitor measuring slowly, heart surely stopping. Anxious Angel remembering, tears dropping onto the final letter, feet climbing, climbing, climbing. wind wanting to slow her down, the final fall. Anxious Angel realizing, in between worlds she rises, mind and heart anchoring her down, white hospital lights mixing with the glowing beam beckoning her to let go. Anxious Angel listening, rattling sobs from a waiting room, five voices who are praying, the youngest is asking if she’ll go home soon. silence. Anxious Angel wondering, has her letter been found by shaking hands, crumpling it’s edges as reality sets in. was the letter found before or after her body? Anxious Angel regretting, in between not succeeding in her choice, ending the pain once and for all and making that choice in the first place, there must’ve been a way to make it all okay. Anxious Angel deciding, allow her spirit to detach and ascend, or, settle back into herself, knowing the months to come will be painful, physically, emotionally, mentally. Anxious Angel living, breathe in, breathe out, blink once, twice, three times. heart will surely heal. © 2019 ElizabethAuthor's Note
