Shower Catharsis

Shower Catharsis

A Poem by Lizzie Mitchell
"

debriefing from life in the shower

"
When I'm in the shower
I remember everything I missed yesterday
Every opportunity to give to someone
to stand up to someone
to be cool
or to walk away
And as I let my body be immersed
in tiny streams of water
this "shower" becomes a time machine
where every less-than-perfect event from yesterday
is replayed until I get it right

But when I reflect
Was it even worth it
All this time spent
Thinking about the yesterday
I can't change
And the tomorrow
I can't predict
To avoid the today
I didn't ask for
