A glimpse of my 14 year old self. I wish I could remember what inspired this poem.

This I ponder as I lay 
Weak and confused on this stormy day 
(I know It's kind of night time 
But that doesn't rhyme) 
Torn between heart and mind 
Searching for something 
I may never find 
Feeling as though 
I've been left behind 
The door to my soul opens to all 
Of those whom my heart does call 
There you'll meet 
And there you'll greet 
Ones you thought you'd never see 
Finally 
Together we'll be 
Together to dream 
And dream and dream 
Happily

i really like this, the beginning got a chuckle, i loved the " i know it's kind of night time but that doesn't rhyme" bit haha the things we do to create flow in our poetry, *sigh* good piece though :)

it's funny because i felt nearly the same way you did reading this
i don't even remember how i felt writing this years ago
the poetry i write now rarely ever rhymes!

i like using rhyme in mine, but that's because a majority of my poetry consists of one and two word lines, if it didn't rhyme it wouldn't read well, then it would just be chaos, i'm a big fan of the off rhyming too, where it doesn't quite fit but you make it work ;)

i admire poets who use rhyme a lot because for me it usually takes quite a bit of extra effort to add consistent rhyme to my poetry

it's difficult to do without sounding trite I've learned, which is probably another reason I'm a fan of the off rhyme, it throws a wrench in it a little bit...
