Reminiscing Love

Reminiscing Love

A Poem by Lizzie Mitchell

Don't be sorry, darling
I don't forgive you
The said was said
The done, done
The past is dead
So let's leave it behind
I am no longer yours
Nor are you mine
At the present, two separate souls
One seeking love
The other death
Looks like I've forgotten
You're not mine to regret
Our friendship was beautiful
Our love less than pure
Be that the reason our love is no more?
By now you think I'm a hypocrite
Alas, the more I reminisce, the more I forget!
I've been told, to understand
I must be able to look back
So, what from this experience
Have I learned?
Well, right now for me
Time churns
It's mixed and it's mashed
into gooey green stew
A lot like the feelings I shared with you...
