Ugly

Does God see anything as "ugly"?

What if everything is beautiful? 
What if we took a look through God's eyes 
and realized ugly 
is no more than a figment of human culture? 
What if everything is lovely?
What if we discovered crooked teeth 
are just as good as straight ones 
and every once in a brown moon we stopped 
to smell the dandelions? 
I wish to erase 
my preconceived notions of others. 
Perhaps I would never miss a friendship. 
What if we all sleep in the darkest alleyways of misjudgment, 
faces stained with the prejudice of others?
What if only love can save us?

Author's Note

The inspiration behind this poem came while attending college where I was exposed to the feelings of acceptance and rejection based solely on appearance that I had previously never experienced. I feel this is a "figment of human culture" and not how God views his creations.

I love this concept and i tell people all the time, judging people not only does nobody any good but it makes that person getting judged feel like crap after. And it is one of the worst things to be judged solely on appearance because if you actually got to know the person they could be one of the nicest people alive but because of sole appearance you would never know. good concept and great writing.
