Derailed

Derailed

A Poem by lizc0123

At times I get setback,

apparent I am quite off-track.

Prior to this familiar strife,

I am coasting; soaring through life.

My wheels are set on their destined rails,

I navigate freely through the trails.

My heart, mind, body and spirit seem ominous.

Working together as a conductor and his crew,

with a devout obligation to get me through.

It is when I separate those three,

that I forgo the time I need for me.

I am severely shaken,

swiftly thrown out of alignment.

I grab on to the first thing to catch me,

find myself upon a new set of tracks.

They are not wrong,

just not the ones I was traveling on.

God, how I pray I do not venture down them for too long.

He knows me well,

He acts discretely.

Setting a sign along the path,

showing me exactly how to get back.

Once recognized, I hesitate.

Take it in and then debate.

I pull the lever,

I shift my wheels,

as I roll into the junction.

Grace allows me to pick up where I left off.

I am again able to function.

I like this poem. Using the word "Derailed' to make your point. Easy to fall off a track. Ain't so easy to get back on. I like the positive story and ending to this poem. A strong ending to a excellent poem.
