Letting Go

Letting Go

A Poem by lizc0123

You are never far away.

I look to you,

Although sometimes I cannot find you.

I'm blinded by my selfishness.

Your grace absorbs me whole.

My eyes are renewed,

and all I see is you.

You were holding my hand,

guiding my way.

My vision is restored.

My path is made new.

My days are filled with hope.

I can now let go of the rope,

that I once let guide me.

It used to lead me nowhere,

with no one of worth on the other end.

It took me through dark valleys,

leading me right through the thorns, mud and mire.

My path was never cleared.

Who put this rope here?

I would stumble and fall,

but just hold on tighter.

I couldn't see.

It was the only thing I had in my grasp.

I thought that if I let go,

I would lose it all, lose control.

Only to find that I was afraid of losing something I never had.
