An extremely short start to a story i've begun set in a magical world of fantasy.
In a land where trees could sing but chose not to and people danced in shadows, there existed a boy. This boy did not live, he took no joy in the life he led, there was no spark in his eye or flame in his heart, he simply existed.
Much like every other living thing in Argyle under the rule of High Clare, this boy was merely passing through time minute by minute, he had no more control over his life than a leaf has control over the direction in which it is carried by a gust of wind.
This is a story I started awhile ago but stopped and never returned to because I didnt know how to continue it or where i was going to go with it. I want to continue in an equally captivating way, little bit of writers block on this one. Any help on that matter would be greatly appreciated.

That was a single sip in a tell glass of awesome. Already the poetry in your words are bringing a world to life perfectly befitting a fantasy. I would most love to read more! Writing a story can be a daunting and oddly dim lit road. I have a few larger projects (that have yet to see a place on the site) developed over hard won battles of mind, one of which is a fantasy series. For me, on the subject of where to go developmentally, I always try to imagine a problem (like the internal conflict of moral vs. desire) then build characters based of the different angles that problem can be perceived from. I find how I ultimately want to resolve the story and then begin to do a sort of connect the dots building path to change the psychology of the character to the state it must be to achieve the desired resolution.
Sorry for carrying on like that, I love writing stories. That's just kinda how I do it, ultimately I'm confident you'll find a method that feels comfortable to you. You have a natural way with words that is, in a word, beautiful.

Good start! the same thing happened to me once, and after like a year or after declaring it "dead" i managed to pick it back up and write about 3-4 page short story. If you want to create this into a lorger story, try out the Snowflake Method of creating and writing a novel, if you haven't heard of it. Just found it recently myself, and will be using it quite soon on my own story!
I think I'm going to love the whole story, so you have to finish it. A little demanding, am I?
This is good, it has to keep going. A miserable boy who's nothing to do with his life. What to do next?
Get lost inside this boy's head and you'll come up with a good plot.
I have written stories long ago. I lost my copies. I lost my plots. And when I found them, I reread them all. And still finished them. If English was my first language, I'd have written bundles of book.
You're good and you have a good path to follow ahead of you (in this field), please, let's read the sequence. If I'm not putting pressure on you. Thanks! :)
