Chapter 6, The battle of the desert

“Why did you eat my hamburger?”.  Asked Lizardo

We were in a Burger king restaurant in what look like Los Angeles; through the window I could see the Los Angeles skyline with all of its towers.

There we’re a lot of people around us buying hamburgers and all of that stuff, either way I was lost in my thoughts once again and yes, I did eat Lizardo’s hamburger but I didn’t noticed it. He was wearing a blue shirt with a black jacket and blue jeans. While I was wearing a nice green shirt with jeans too. Either way it was a dream and I didn’t feel like I was me in the dream, I was just a watcher from above seeing how the events fold up, maybe that’s how sometimes we feel, lost in our thoughts but we are just expatiators from above.

“No I didn’t” I answered back.

“Dude, you have the freaking hamburger in your hand, IN YOUR HAND!” said Lizardo

I looked to my right hand and saw that the hamburger was there.

I gave Lizardo one of those: ‘’I didn’t do it’’ stares. He just started to laugh and then I started to laugh too.

“Ah you make me laugh Ben, something I don’t do every day”. Lizardo said

“But fine eat it, either way I’m not hungry”

I put the hamburger down.

“What was the thing you wanted to tell me anyways?” I asked

“The dream machine is almost finished; we’re going to make history with it”. Lizardo said jubilant.

“I think we really are”

“But there’s something I wanted to tell you”. Lizardo said in a serious tone

“What?”

“I was watching through my telescope yesterday and I got to see something bright, like a comet” “I talked about it with my fellow astrophysicists and they say it’s a comet”

“A comet heading towards earth?”. I asked fearfully 

“Indeed a comet”

My vision became dark and I woke up, once again I didn’t know what to think about.

Now something more to add to the list, a comet?  Maybe the booming sound or explosion that Samantha heard was the comet impacting earth? Or maybe Lizardo broke down reality for the comet to impact with something else? So many thoughts in my head but I was interrupted when Dominick entered my camping house, he stopped and caught his breath.

“Ben, we need to get out of here, you need to see this!” yelled Dominick

He ran out of the house and I was behind him when I saw what was happening.

Lenox, Daisy and Samantha where all outside packing everything as fast as they could

“What’s going on!?” I asked to Lenox

“Look at that” Lenox said pointing out to a skeleton, a skeleton with roman armor in a skeleton horse, with sand all over its bones and a cape hanging from his back with a big stick on his hand. He was just a few feet away from us and it was advancing towards us.

“I don’t want to know what that is!” Yelled Lenox

And as if that was enough, a sand storm was coming behind him, it looked miles away.

“We need to get out of here fast, that sandstorm does not act normal and is advancing way to fast!” said Daisy

“Everyone get in your motorcycles and get the hell out of here!” Yelled Lenox

We all quickly hoped on in our motorcycles and started to run as fast as we could on them.

“Daisy, Look what’s behind"“. Lenox stopped before he could say a word. I looked back too and saw what was going on. Our friend the skeleton lifted his stick to the sky and black clouds begun to form in the pitch white sky, lightning bolts striking everywhere in the desert and Skeletons that looked just like him started to rise from the sand, one after the other they looked like there dozens of them.

He yelled some words which I couldn’t hear what they were.

The skeletons started to rise with all sorts of weapons with them and with the same armor from the Roman Empire with swords and hammers and bows. But then the sandstorm came, I couldn’t see what happened because the sand storm swallow the skeletons that were on our back, while we saw other skeletons rising in front of us too with thunder and lightning bolts going crazy.

“Lenox, The sand storm is already on our tale!” Yelled desperately Daisy.

It was true, the sand storm was right behind us and I could hear the yelling cries of the skeletons coming behind us.

“Everyone grabbed something and covered your mouth and Nose! We’re going to have a party with skeletons and sand storms” Yelled Lenox

Lenox tossed me piece of clothes to covered my nose and I used the upper side of my shirt to covered my mouth and the next thing I know, the sand storms hit us and we couldn’t see a single thing around us but we could hear the cries of the skeletons coming towards us and the lightning bolts around the sand storm too.

We kept on moving forward on our motorcycles without stopping, either way the only way there was forward ahead.

Suddenly the skeletons start to throw themselves to us with swords and knife trying to stop us.

I saw Lenox grabbed his machine gun from his back and started to fire away at all of the skeletons that were coming towards, he got up and was standing on his motorcycle (yes standing on his motorcycle!) and started to throw grenades and  firing away bullets at all of the skeletons. How could he do that without the sandstorm not affecting him?

“Lenox, There’s a portal just ahead, if you could hold on more there, then maybe we’re going to make it!” Yelled daisy

Frustration came to my heart as I couldn’t do anything to help Lenox stop the skeletons. Again I kind of saw some skeletons on skeleton horses yelling at us too.

Then they started too fired at us with bows.

There wasn’t visibility and for a second I couldn’t see Lenox firing too, we were driving in our motorcycles at top speed.

“Try to hold down there people!” Lenox yelled

“Almost there!” Daisy yelled!

In the distance, I could make out a bunch of colors in one spot.

 “Four seconds to go!” Yelled daisy

The skeletons where closing in on us an throwing us things as the lightning bolts started to appear in the highway

“Three seconds!” Yelled daisy

I could hardly breathe, the heat got intense now and I could feel sand on my lungs

“Two seconds!”

The skeletons were all around us now

One lunch itself at me, I stop the motorcycle and let it pass inches by my face then started running again

“One Second!” “It’s now or never!” Daisy yelled

Lenox kept shooting and enter the portal, so did daisy, Samantha

Me and Dominick came crashing in to the portal.

I love how you opened the chapter. This gave me a really good impression on how the skyline looked. This story has a lot of promise. It has good detail and pretty good development. The book shows a lot of potential as a whole and I hope I get to see it though until the very end! Awesome job!
