Cancer Patient's Last WordsA Poem by Flynna dying cancer patients last thoughts
“Ashes to ashes” is all I hear
As death draws ever more near
Above me I see your face
As delicate as silk lace
The worst part of this, I find
Is leaving you behind
I lay here not able to scream
In this, awful, living dream
As I lay down to die
I only ask you not to cry
As the days are counted down
I would not have you frown
If I had one wish to see
I would have this never be
As life’s end presses near
Please do not fear
If I could, I would cry
But the treatments leave me dry
It’s a battle I can’t win
So here’s to you, my true kin
As death presses near “Ashes to ashes” is all I hear… © 2009 FlynnAuthor's Note
