Chapter 1: So it beginsA Chapter by Joshua HunterAlex thinks he is going crazy as he starts to see weird things going on all around him.Alex sat in the back of the bus with his ear buds in
listening to one of his favorite songs. The yellow school bus with the words
“Clayton High” written on the side, sped down the road through town. As the
houses zipped by Alex let his mind go blank as he listened to the lyrics of the
song: “The worlds on
fire but we’re still smiling Though it’s all
our fault But life is short so we resort to laughing
through it all It’s the battle within the good and the sin With both sides standing strong It’d the permanent scars How broken we
are It’s the things
that hurt us all But isn’t it
beautiful The way we fall
apart It’s magical
and tragic all the ways we break our hearts So
unpredictable We’re
comfortably miserable We think we’re
invincible Completely unbreakable Maybe we are Isn’t it
beautiful The way we fall
apart” The school bus came to a stop outside the high school
and Alex took his ear buds out and stored his iPod in his backpack. He listened
to this song multiple times every morning before school, because it helped get
him ready for the day. He though the song described his life and the world
perfectly. He has grown up in a
Christian home and been a Christian all his life. But these last few years in
high school had been very tough on him and his faith. He still believed in God
and knew Jesus was his savior, but all the rest, the obeying and trying to live
the “good life” was difficult. He was growing more and more distant to God, he
could feel it. He had tried to go back to the way he had been when he was
younger but it wasn’t the same, there was something missing. Alex was the last one off the bus like always. He did
not care to rush to class, as he knew exactly when it started and would be
there. He walked through the double doors of the school and down the hallway to
his locker. He walked up to his locker and took out his books for the day
storing them in his pack. David walked up while he when he was about to leave. “Hey bro, how you this fine morning?” asked David.
David always seemed to be in a good mood. “Normal,” was all Alex gave for an answer, “Yours?” “Oh, you know same old same old. Which is to say it is
another beautiful day on this wonderful earth!” David said smiling ear to ear. His
happy attitude never ceased to amaze Alex. (To Be Continued) © 2013 Joshua HunterAuthor's Note
