Alone in my HeartA Poem by Joshua HunterIt says it allI sat there in my house, alone Talking to my shadow And my shadow talking to me We were talking about being so alone When I heard a knock on the door "Yes? Who is it?" I asked "It's God, will you let me in?" the voice said "What God? There is no God! Be gone!" My shadow
said Waiting a few minutes, there was not another knock So we went back to our conversation A week later I heard two knocks "Yes? Who is it?" I asked "It's God, will you let me in?" The voice said "What God? There is no God! Be gone!" My shadow
said Waiting a few minutes, there was not another knock So we went back to our conversation A week later I heard three knocks "Yes? Who is it?" I asked "It's God, will you let me in?" The voice said "What God? There is no God! Be gone!" My shadow
said Waiting a few minutes, there was not another knock So we went back to our conversation A week later I heard four knocks "Yes? Who is it? I asked "It's God, will you let me in?" The voice said "What God? There is no God! Be gone!" My shadow
said "Wait God, don't go!" I said, "Will you not
stay this time?" "My child, I have never left." God answered What did he mean?
I thought "I've been here since the day you were born." God
said "Liar! You don't care about us!" My shadow spat I looked at my shadow, not understanding his anger "I've been here waiting for you to let me in, forever
waiting." "LIAR! Leave us alone! We're fine alone!" "If I let you in will you fill the hole inside of
me?" "Yes, my child. That is why I'm here, to complete you." "NO! Be gone! Be gone now!" "Be quite Shadow! I want Him to stay." "But we're fine alone! We don't need Him." Shadow
said "No, we're missing something, and I think it's
Him." I said "NO! We don't need Him!" Shadow yelled "God come in, sit down." I ignored Shadow's screams of protest The door opened up and light flooded into the room Lighting up the dark corners and making everything beautiful Shadow screamed one last time, disappearing "Hello my child. I've been waiting for this day." "I feel… complete, I'm not alone anymore "The pain… the pains gone too "And the hole, it's been filled." I said "Yes, I am with you now, and I'll never leave
you." He looked down and smiled at me, His eyes shining I knew it was true; He'd never leave me… ever © 2013 Joshua HunterFeatured Review
