Imaginary Friends

Imaginary Friends

A Poem by livspen

My eyes tattooed wide
Two ghosts in the mist
I see them go inside
My insides twist.
They kissed.
They're smiles are white stars
That float on their lips,
Their kiss deep and long.
They're two sinking ships.
Wet lips.
Regard her facade
The blank message she sends
I'd rather be with
My imaginary friends than with her, or with him.
Hope their universe ends.
A flash of white flesh
The hot fire of touch
And when they're apart
They do not smile much.
While the love she pretends
Is in bloom starts to fade
Inches under the sundress
Her grandmother made
He forgets why he's there
And he gives me a smile
And this cold empty ache
Disappears for a while.
Then he runs a mile.
She still clutches him.
I remember the first time
As the falling day ends.
I'd rather be with
My imaginary friends.
