A Crazy Little Thing Called...

A Crazy Little Thing Called...

A Poem by Paul in the Buff
"

How the world can break under the weight of sorrow, but is a pain that is worth owning if only for the moments of love, and the risk spent in having love, and embracing the moments.

"
We walked along the sunny day
After Spring finally broke
The winter's haze

A car rolled by, windows down
Music filled the air all around
A Beatles song, we both know well
Demanding we come together, right now

And in this moment of happenstance
Without a word, or cue from glance
We sang together in unison,
Picking up the song in stride
Together, we sang side-by-side
We walked happily along our way
Singing together on a sunny day

It is just a part of who we are
The poetry written by our hearts
How our differences compliment
And our similarities reinvent
Our lives, our love, ourselves

And I think about that moment
When our voices sang in stride
And all of the moments that you're by my side
A happiness unlike any before
A poem written in love
And a love recreating lore

I love the idea of ‘love recreating lore.’ It should be this way, where whatever we thought love was becomes myth when we finally find that place where we feel in sync. The way prosaic moments become grand memories because they remind us of how alive we felt in that place and time and how much of that can be attributed to the person we were with.

“Love” can so often be something we search for after attaching to someone we are not quite suited for. When we are young and feel energized by a person's company we think everything will eventually fall into place. Time is often not so kind. But I feel what you describe here is finding that piece to the puzzle that’s been missing and a person that when you clasp hands it feels like completion rather than ownership or fantasy or any other of the tricks of feeling we can experience. It’s a lovely thought, the thought that there are these connections and people are thriving within them.
