Life is a gameA Poem by Juliana MoralesThis is an older poem i wrote, i had so much on my mind at the time and it seemingly just poured out.I'm laying here and my thoughts resemble a whirlwind, they pile on me unexpectedly more and more; Even when i want to shut down and stop thinking, even when i want to forget and let go of it all, i cannot. I can't stand to see a beautiful mind time out to nothing, and i can't wait around for people to hand me things; opportunities will no longer pass me by in a blink of an eye. This game of life we play can be quite difficult some might say, but just like any other game there is a hint to the finish. There's always a winner, and i will succeed at my game of life. This game of life is a bit different than any other game we may play, unlike any other, we make the rules day to day- second to second. You may not believe this is so, but before you say no, take a look around you. What limitations are you setting for yourself in this game? Who is playing on your team, and who is your opponent? How will you get to the finish line, will you cheat, or play fair even when others won't have a care? Will your heart remain sweet, even when life will try to beat it bitter? Every thought, every word, every action, every promise and every heartbeat is captured into our surroundings and is payed back to us in full at the end of the finish line. With everyone's hurt, pain, and everyone's brutal emotion makes this game even more real, and even more honest. Because of these thoughts, i cannot commit myself to anyone besides this game, and its creator. Me. I hold every power within this game, i make the rules, and i set the pace. My age is nothing but a mask of even more years of hurt, and even more years of maturity. I am only 18 years old, but this game has no age limit on it's harsh realities, without any apologies, this game will chew and spit you out. It'll tear your heart out and ask for you to stand back up. It will expect you to take what it has in store for you without a pout. Only you can determine where your game will go, will you just go with the flow, or will you make a show? Just remember that this game surely has an ending, so there's no need to keep pretending that you are clueless and helpless; we hold the power, so lets stop giving it to these cowards that don't have a single clue on what it means to be a true player in the game of life.
