ThoughtsA Poem by Livia Rose
We walk through the park under orange jelly skies, and marvel at the ants and ladybugs eating peanut butter on the rocks. We play hopscotch in the empty wading pool, and then nap in the sun in chalk-drawn beds, and listen to each other breathe. We make daisy chain crowns and soda tab necklaces, and paint our toenails every color of the rainbow. We hold hands and sing songs about rainbows and leprechauns, and then we give each other foot massages, and listen to the birds twitter in the trees. We make tiny beds for the ladybugs out of leaves, and feed them celery and lemonade. Then we get burritos. We pretend not to like the clouds, and count the days till rain comes. We look at our fingernails at dusk, and eat otter pops and tortellini. We make friendship bracelets for the children we know, and trade taffy and peppermint sticks. We scribble furiously in our notebooks, tattooing the day's events onto the blank pages with colors that drip through to the next page, the next universe, the next dimension. We are united in a glorious circle of hands, and sing chants to the moon. We wear lots of purple and dress in angel's wings. We eat sandwiches made from honey and ketchup and share them with the birds. Sometimes, the rabbits come out to watch us play. We frolic.
