Chapter 10A Chapter by allonsy_doctorDennis becomes an eveasdropper...It took Dennis Payr a few minutes to master his new gift. Everything seemed real to him now, like before, when he was ungifted, was a dream. As soon as he had seen the murder of Don Jamesson, his previous life had vanished into the illusion of a dreamsequence, and this new life had reborned him. He was new, powerful, and a little strange. Yet, these gifts didn't come with indtruction manuels. Slowly, he closed his eyes and first focused on fainted Jackien Clemmons's mind. Her mind was silent; she was not thinking anything. Yet, he knew that. He had mastered it instantly. He had also mastered projecting thoughs into others's minds. What else could he do? What other mysterious, mind-boggling things could he use? Dennis was puzzled with Scott evergrowing thoughts that were building up in his head. Something about the gothic boy that had dominated both of their visions. Dennis tried new hights; he reached out with his mind. He closed his eyes and let his soul drift out of his body. Figuratively, of course. His mind eerily examined each person roaming the hospital. Then, it snagged on one. His name, Dennis learned from his thoughts, was Mortimer Leary, sometimes called Mo, or Morty. Mortimer was sixteen, a year old than himself, and he seemed to know quite a lot about the gothic boy; who's name he learned was Eric. Eric Shawn. Eric Shawn was seventeen. He was goth--obviously--and was a spokesperson-to-be. That's when Dennis found out another thing he could do; he could listen and eaveasdrop on Mortimer's and others's conversations just by entering their minds. Mortimer was talk with another boy who was sixteen, whom Dennis found out was named Lawrence Taylor. 'So, these wacko's just blanked out on the spot? Together?' Lawrence was saying. 'Yeah, so that's what I saw.' Mortimer explained. He must have been one of the younger people loading him into the ambulance he had caught sight of. 'Are we aloud to see them?' Lawrence questioned. Mortimer considered his answer, as Dennis learned. He knew that Mortimer and Lawrence could see them, but supposedly Mortimer didn't want Lawrence to barge in if they were sleeping. Nice guy, thought Dennis. 'No, not yet.' Mortimer decided. 'Why don't we take a trip to SNM's place.' Panicking, Dennis read Mortimer's last thoughts on SNM. Unfortunately, he got no information. © 2009 allonsy_doctorAuthor's Note
