Depression

Depression

A Poem by olivia
"

This is one of the many ways I experience depression and anxiety.

"

It’s cold and dark in here

I’m scared

I want out

But there is no way out

I scream and cry

But no one hears me

I bite and scratch

But he won’t let go

I scream at him

Tell him hurtful things

But he doesn’t care

He keeps you locked up

Your hands bound in chains

Your mouth sewn shut

Your throat is burning

Your head is aching

You want to die

But he wouldn’t allow that

He wants you to feel this pain

This sadness

This anger

He laughs at how empty you are

And how lonely you’re beginning to feel

Then one day

He lets you go

With an evil smile on his face

“Go one he says, you’ll be back”

“And know I’ll always be there”

You run out the door

Tears streaming down your face

You have a life of your own now

But he’s always lurking

You find someone you love

And you hurt them

Because he makes you

He lies to you

Says “they don’t love you”

“you won’t last”

So, you tell them lies

And you hurt them

Then, they leave

You’re so broken

You crawl back into your cell

And hang your head in despair

You look up to see him smiling

“I told you that you’d come back.”

He sits next to you and holds you lovingly

“I’m all that you will ever have”

Then, he ties you back up and leaves you with your thoughts

And chuckles on his way out.
