To 2nd Place

Everyone knows first place is the best

because when your first place

 your the winner of that contest you entered

your someones favorite person in the world

your the happily ever after to a critical acclaimed, oscar winning, movie that will forever live in our hearts

because first place 

marks the difference of a gold medal and a proud country

you'll always be the one who made it

We've learned the power behind the number

but lets not forget third or fourth or fifth

because you did it too, now lets cheer for the real underdogs

because third, fourth, fifth and last deserve to make it 

from one to three, now roles in the middle child

2nd place

2nd place isn't bad

you were so close...

so if i was so close

if not the winner

if i'm not the underdog

where do i stand

it won't hurt, it can't

 i was at the finish, closer than most, but had the rug pulled

because i was closer to making it than the third  but...not quite

if i was the artist that had dedicated nonstop to make a statement that i deeply hope

touches you, teaches you, reveals something entirely new

will always be someones almost 

and the second place silver badge is almost as good, so no need to remember, shouldn't hurt

i didn't have the popular idea 

it becomes worse when a number becomes a name

Who almost won the super 2 years ago?

What team almost got the gold at olympics?

can you tell who was the second president?

2nd place shouldn't hurt cause you almost made it

that silver isn't bronze so be happy that your almost gold

Almost you first choice

so i'll wait a while to think not just asking why

but why not?
